Introductory Programs:

Introductory Grant Writing Certificate
No prior experience in grant writing is required

Course Description: Grant writing techniques and processes are changing over time. This workshop will help participants respond to the latest trends such as online grant applications, demand for better designed evaluations, and increased competition for grant funds. Participants will learn techniques to help them better control the grant writing process and make better use of their time. Participants will draft materials for a hypothetical or actual grant proposal in order to 'learn-by-doing' and receive feedback from other participants in the workshop. 

Introduction to Grant Writing for Educators and Librarians  (Limited to 12 online spots!)

Course Description: This workshop will help educators, both teachers and administrators, as well as library personnel understand grant writing essentials beginning with searching for grants all the way through follow-up after receiving a grant. Participants will draft materials for a hypothetical or actual grant and receive feedback from the instructor and other participants in order to build skills with key steps in grant writing. The workshop will cover the latest trends, such as the demand for better designed evaluations, and provide grant writing tools for participants to improve their organization's grant writing efforts. The workshop will include examples and materials from education and library grants.

Advanced Programs:

Course Description: This workshop will help participants improve their grant writing knowledge, skills, and abilities by developing draft materials for each of the common components found in grant proposals. Participants will develop those materials for use in a grant application by their organization. The workshop will cover topics such as designing logic models, evaluations, and Gantt charts as well as providing useful tools, such as group exercises to facilitate idea generation, for participant use in their organizations.

Master of Public Administration (MPA) program - College of Arts and Sciences / WCU.
Master of Health Sciences (MHS) - School of Health Sciences / WCU.
Dr. Dezendorf has taught grant writing in the MPA program since 2007 as well as teaching grant writing in the MHS program. 

Please Note: Participants will receive a link to a Zoom session for our virtual offerings a few days prior to the training. You will need to download Zoom onto your Laptop or PC prior to the training. You will also need a reliable internet connection, and a camera and audio on your laptop or PC. It is not recommended to use a Smartphone for the training.
