SoTL, based upon faculty experience in teaching (wisdom of practice) and research about student learning, is a powerful way to invest in an academic culture in which the love and understanding of learning is constantly encouraged and renewed.
SoTL at Western calls for a university-wide commitment and collaboration among faculty, administration, staff and students in systematic reflection, research and conversation about teaching and learning that is made publicwhile having the scholarship of teaching and learning as valued as traditional disciplinary scholarship.
